Please bow your heads in Silence...

It has finally happened. It has been coming for some time. Slowly failing in health and living on life support for a few months now. The Prognosis has not looked good. I've been told in order to save it, we must let it die. Kill it actually were the words used. Strip it of all of it's memory. Hoping the new information and life saving programs we enroll it in does not cause more damage. That they are able to find a cure. I have sat waiting patiently, for it to return to normal. Waiting for the past to return so I can pretend this wasn't happening. Waiting with baited breath that this "trick" would work this time. Temporarily putting band-aids on the problems so life could go on. But the news is grim. I don't see a future for it anymore. The end is near. We had a good running together. 5+ years together. Lots of secrets passed among us. Information that cant be shared with just anyone. Pictures passed among us. Even money flew among these walls to and fro. Shopping carts full, updates, parties, family events, friends long distance staying connected. So much of our lives spent right here. And now to end it like this seems so unfair. Why is the world so cruel?

Farewell...to my Beloved Computer...our time together meant more then words can express...

Breast Cancer Walkathon...

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Sunday was the Susan G. Komen "Making Strides against Breast Cancer" Walkathon here and Austin and I got up at 5am and met up with some friends for the drive downtown. We both had hit up our family and friends and gotten sponsors and money to be able to donate to the cause.
Breast Cancer runs in my family. So it is an issue we feel strongly about. I have lost an Aunt and Cousin to it, and have two other cousins who have battled and won the fight and are currently Cancer-Free. I have also had several friends diagnosed with it. It is an ugly, horrible disease that should not exist. I have such a hard time with understanding how we have not found a cure yet. So when I asked Austin if he wanted to walk with me, he was very excited and even donated his own money to support himself. I am so proud of him. This year a bunch of us from high school got reacquainted through Facebook and we learned that a friend of ours had been diagnosed and is currently battling it. So we decided to get a team of us from High School together (kinda a mini reunion of sorts) and walk in her honor and for all the women who have fought and won or lost. Me and my cousins who came out to walk...

We had 20 people who were on our team and we raised about $2,700.00!!! It was awesome! Some of my family came out to walk with us and one was my cousin, Susie, who is a Cancer Survivor. There several thousand people who came out to walk and it was amazing how many had shirts made in honor of someone who had lost the fight. It was sobering as well as awesome to see so many willing to give up a day to support this.
Austin and me in the front...and the thousands of people behind us...You can see the Dome of the capitol building behind us.

We saw some awesome shirts that people had made. One was a friend of ours we ran into there and her 11 year old son was wearing this shirt: Man enough to support my mom. (the back said) Man enough to wear Pink. Another shirt said: Don't let cancer take away 2nd base! (I loved this one)
The entire walk was 3.3 miles and they had cheerleaders and volunteers on every street corner cheering us on and directing us through town. And at the halfway point they had a water table set up. They closed streets and roads down for the walk so there were also cops at every intersection. Passing cars would honk their horns at us in support. It was pretty cool. They also gave away a ton of free stuff. We got backpacks, Pink water bottles, sanitizers on key chains, bells, lei's, you name it. My Cousin, Susie, me and Austin walking.

At the end of the walk they have tables of food set up for you for free. They had fruit, granola bars, rolls, protein bars, jelly beans, water and juice packs. They had music blaring on speakers and dance troops out entertaining.
I think it was something Austin will never forget. After we got home, he hugged me and thanked me for taking him. I have done it several years, but missed the last couple years. So I think this will be something new that him and I can do together. So if you haven't gotten your Mammogram yet, please call and schedule one. Don't forget your monthly exams and please, please check for skin rashes as that is also a form of breast cancer.

When it rains...it pours...

We had a huge storm hit yesterday. 55+ mph winds and DOWNPOURS that flooded lots of areas. It's way too early in the season for this kind of storm. The trees haven't lost their leaves yet, so that makes them top heavy when they get wet. Couple that with 55 mph winds and you can guess how many thousands of trees around town were toppled over and ruined. Lots of cars crushed, homes smashed and property damage. Luckily, no injuries have been reported yet. We have cities still with no power since yesterday. The storm that hit us was the same storm front that hit the Philippines last week and it's on it's way across the Midwest as we speak gaining momentum, so be warned. It's ugly.

On top of that I have a very sick little girl home yesterday and today with a high fever and cough. She doesn't move, doesn't speak, just lays there watching TV or pointing to something she may want. She hasn't eaten in 3 days. I am getting sips of Gatorade down her, but that's it. Apparently this virus going around has been hitting hard. Half of her school is out with it, and log onto Facebook and it seems every ones child, sibling, spouse or someone they know is down with it.

Last night, I woke in the middle of the night with a horrible neck ache and pounding headache. Had to get up at 6am to take something. Apparently this too is going around as people are posting this too as something they are getting.

Saturday morning I had to go to Urgent Care because I woke up with my eye swollen shut and a big red bump on my top eyelid. It hurt so bad. Thought maybe I got bit by something. Nope - they think it's a Staph Infection under the skin. Strong Antibiotics later and a layer of skin peeled off my eyelid yesterday. It knocked whatever it was out, but really? And infection in your eyelid???

So this brings me to this...What in the Holy Bejesus is going on around the world today? We have the Swine Flu, the regular Flu, the High Fever Virus, Croup, Sinus Infections, Bronchitis, Headaches/Neck ache virus and God knows what else is being passed around. I can't remember when so many things are hitting us at once.

So please take your vitamins, dress right, stay indoors and wash your hands...I don't want anyone else to get sick either. Take Care.

It is...

It has been down right Brrrrrr here at night and in the mornings. It came out of nowhere. We had 102 degree weather one day and 69 degrees the next! WTH?? No wonder I got a sinus infection this week! This is wreaking havoc on my sinus and allergies! So at night it has been down to 45...and that is down right COLD here in California. So it must only mean one thing...it's Fall.
I even had to make a trip to the store and buy some winter clothes for the kids. Sweatshirts and Jeans. They do this really frustrating thing of growing out of winter clothes EVERY winter! So its almost time to pack away the shorts and pull out the jeans. But not quite yet...I put the shorts away but left the Capri's. I'm gonna hold onto Summer as long as I can...

School Pictures...

They finally came in - and for all the complaining I did last year on how bad I thought they turned out, I have to say, I am very pleased with both the kids pics this year! I think they are one of the best they've ever taken!

Emily managed to not have her hair sticking in every direction or rip her dress or spill lunch down the front of her, so I'm pleased! And she did a normal looking smile this year and not all teeth!

Austin let me style his hair a little so it wasn't straight down in his face, and he wore his contacts. So you can see those big, beautiful, brown eyes!!

I gotta say...their pretty cute kids if I don't say so myself! :o)

Monday Humor...

One day my housework-challenged husband decided to wash his sweatshirt.
Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room,
he shouted to me, 'What setting do I use on the washing machine?'
'It depends,' I replied. 'What does it say on your shirt?'
He yelled back, ' University of Oklahoma .'

And they say blondes are dumb...
